Seasonal Switch

Spring and summer here in the Northwest seem to have changed places. Spring was beautiful, almost summery in the clarity of the unusually warm air. Now it’s July, and it’s gray and rainy. Don’t get me wrong; I moved here out of love for the misty wet weather and the impossibly tall trees, but what seems like a loss of the typical seasonal rhythms makes chaos in the garden and discourages planting anything that needs a good bout of heat to mature. So, here are some views around the garden from this spring and summer, 2019.

Damage from the bad windstorm this spring.

We had a full bed of these–and they were a complete surprise!

These roses are almost wild at this point, having been untended for many years.

There’s color inside, too

Even the weeds are beautiful

So tiny!

A small reminder of winter
