I know it’s been awhile (over a year!) but as spring approaches I’ll be inspired to catch up posting here. I’ve been looking forward to the resurgence that just barely begins to show itself here this time of year, and in honor of that I’m sharing something I put together this winter, just called spring.

I loved the wonderful lichen-spotted twigs I found in the yard; they looked so much like their full-size parents that I decided to make a scene. This is a gesso-covered cardboard box–you can see the texture in the photo–with a bird’s nest of carpet fuzz, eggs of wood putty painted blue, a ladder I fashioned from balsa wood, and the earth spilling from the flower pot is coffee grounds. Here’s another view, where I think you can see the mossy ground, textures of the ‘trees’, and the nest a little better.
